Privacy policy

Last updated: Nov 7, 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This document explains what information we collect, why, and how you control it.

1. Information we collect

Account details (email, hashed password or Google identifier), location details you provide (country, city, street and, with your consent, browser coordinates), personal details (birth date, gender, avatar, optional phone), interests, notification settings, the content you publish, and security data (IP address, login attempts).

2. Why we use it

To show matches by distance and interests, to send the notifications you chose (by email), to protect the account from unauthorised access, and to improve the service. We do not sell personal information to third parties.

3. What others see

Your profile (display name, avatar, country and interests) is open to view. Age, gender and city are shown only if you enabled them in the privacy settings. Your email, phone and exact address are never shown to others. Distance is shown as a rounded number of kilometres only. A post you mark as "public" (share with the world) is visible to anyone and to search engines (including its comments), together with your display name, avatar and publish date only. Stopping the share removes the page immediately; copies kept by search engines or third parties update at their own pace.

4. Location services

If you allowed location services, the browser provides coordinates and we translate them to an address using OpenStreetMap (Nominatim). Coordinates are stored to compute distances. You can withdraw consent and update your location manually at any time.

5. Cookies

We use a secure (httpOnly) session cookie to identify your login and a CSRF protection cookie. There are no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. Your language choice is stored in the browser.

6. Retention and deletion

Information is kept while the account is active. Deleting an account (by you or by an administrator) moves the data to an inactive archive, ends all logins and stops all notifications. Content you published is removed from the system.

7. Security

Passwords are stored hashed (bcrypt), verification codes are stored hashed and expire after 10 minutes, access is secured with HTTPS, and all content is filtered to prevent XSS. Two-factor authentication is available.

8. Your rights

You can view, update and delete your information from the settings. For other requests, contact us.

9. Changes

We will update this document as needed. The update date appears above.
